PHOTOGRAPHY TRIP BANGLADESH – FEBBRAIO 2020
PHOTOGRAPHY TRIP BANGLADESH – FEBBRAIO 2020
Type of event : Photography trip
Proposed by : Mauro De Bettio
Bangladesh, from February 13th 2020 to February 23rd 2020
An exclusive trip, with the participation of up to 8 people. A respectful and sustainable formula to guarantee and protect the uniqueness of genuine populations, not contaminated by tourism, where every single photographer will have the opportunity to portray authentic places and faces.
Building a portfolio full of original images with a strong emotional impact such as, for example, the workers in the shipyards, tea plantations and brick factories, always with the technical supervision of Mauro De Bettio and an expert local guide. A journey full of contents, where it will be possible to learn and experiment on the field the secrets and techniques of photojournalism, in order to learn to seize the moment and enclose in every shot the essence of the place and the soul of its people, raising his own skill and photographic talent.
Bangladesh is a fascinating and little known country. People are kind, spontaneous and welcoming towards foreigners. The journey is a unique experience to learn about and photograph the places, the culture, the religion, the customs and the traditions of an extraordinary people. In the capital, Dhaka, the point of reference for the entire stay, one finds the best that Bangladesh can offer, including goods and services that do not exist anywhere else in the country.
In Dhaka we will visit Char Kaliganj, slum and home of Asia’s largest shipyard. A labyrinth-like city in which giant skeletons of old ships provide work for around 15,000 people, with the task of dismantling and creating new boats with the recovered parts.
Outside the capital, instead, between the red dust and the black smoke of the chimneys, we will visit the brick factories. Here we will witness the collection of mud, the shaping of the bricks, the firing phase and we will be able to portray the workers who move, carrying piles of very high bricks in balance.
We will enter the two of the largest slums in all of Asia, Korail Bosti and Kawran Bazar; one of the most significant experiences of the whole trip. We will visit some schools and we will travel with an expert guide to the maze of roads that cross this “city within the city”, immersing ourselves in the daily life of extraordinarily friendly and smiling people.
We will then enter the old city area, among the lively fruit markets, for a street photography full of subjects and opportunities. We will jump aboard a rickshaw and, along the narrow winding roads, we will reach the port where every morning all sorts of goods arrive and we will witness the scenes of river life along the banks of the Buriganga. From here we will then visit the aluminum and leather factories.
And then again outside the capital, to photograph the workers in the expanses of red hot peppers and the drying and processing of rice. With a boat we will then reach an island where the inhabitants produce clay pots. Finally, end in the north, immersed in silence to let yourself be carried away by the beauty and intoxicating scent of tea plantations, documenting women in colorful saris while carefully collecting tea leaves with care and dexterity.
Without revealing too many surprises, we will have the opportunity to live an exclusive and unrepeatable experience. All without forgetting the philosophy of travel, or respect for places and for all those who live it, taking home original, authentic shots in total safety.
